The Challenge
To identify newsjacking opportunities in the national and consumer media, reinforcing No.5 barristers’ legal expertise
Crucially, we needed to spot topics that would allow us to share engaging commentary, without losing the vital technical aspects of the relevant law.
The Idea
With the King’s Coronation dominating the national media agenda, we knew we had to think creatively to ensure No.5’s barristers were front and centre.
Having seen stories featuring the must-haves when hosting a street party begin to appear, we identified an opportunity to discuss the legalities for throwing a celebration on the day of the Coronation.
We swiftly interviewed Chris Hopkins, a Regulatory Law barrister, about the steps organisers must take to ensure their party wouldn’t break the law. Armed with this insight, we devised a list of tips for organisers – from council considerations to entertainment and noise – before reaching out to national media.
The Results
Our timely turnaround and interesting angle grabbed attention and, against a KPI of five pieces of coverage, secured:
- 16 pieces of coverage
- National coverage in The Mirror and The Star
- Consumer magazine coverage in Ideal Home
- 13 regional pieces, including Wales Online, Kent Live and Cambridgeshire Live
- 15 backlinks to the No.5 website
