Next Gen Shortlisted for Industry Award

WPR’s industry-leading learning and insight programme, Next Gen, has been shortlisted in the PRCA Internship and Apprenticeships Awards 2024.

Next Gen, named Best Internship Programme in 2023, was launched in 2022 as part of WPR’s desire to inspire new generation of communications professionals to explore the opportunities a career in PR, marketing and social media can offer, increasing diversity both at WPR and across the wider industry.

Managing director Jane Ainsworth said: “Having worked in PR for almost three decades, I know what an incredible career this industry can provide. We’re passionate about telling that story to people who might not have considered it as a path for their future.

“Crucially, Next Gen not only equips people with practical experience and skills, but it is flexible to their needs – whether that’s tailoring hours around people’s existing commitments or focusing on a specific area of interest.”

As part of its wider DEI initiatives, WPR partners with 10,000 Black Interns, reserving half of Next Gen’s summer internships for candidates applying via the programme, supporting its goal to champion under-represented talent.

The PRCA Internship and Apprenticeship Awards seek to improve standards in the industry and celebrate the best internship and apprenticeship programmes in the UK. Winners will be announced in early autumn.
