Celebrating Young Regional Talent
The shortlist for the Insider Midlands young professionals awards 2023 has been unveiled and WPR’s senior media relations manager Gideon Casey has been named as a finalist.
In contention for the title of young marketing and media professional of the year, Gideon has impressed colleagues and clients alike since he joined WPR in 2019.
Beginning his career as a B2B PR executive, Gideon’s passion for current affairs and talent for media relations was swiftly spotted, and he has since carved out a distinct role in the Birmingham PR agency.
Tom Leatherbarrow, director (B2B), said: “Gideon has an unerring sense for the news agenda and has helped develop our fast-reaction media relations capability, deepening our relationships with key national media journalists on political, consumer and business desks. He’s a real expert, trusted by his clients to establish a clear, distinctive voice on complex, challenging topics from high street retail to the UK’s housing market.”
Jane Ainsworth, managing director, said: “We pride ourselves on spotting and developing young talent at WPR – in fact, almost half of our current team joined the agency as interns or juniors. Our ethos has always been about delivering the most brilliant work possible for our clients. But we can only do that by attracting the most brilliant people and unleashing their full potential.”
News of this most recent shortlisting comes after two other WPR team members received recognition earlier in the year; Dan Gabriel was named professional of the year and Nicole Daybell was chosen as rising star at the PRCA Dare Awards 2023.
This is the inaugural year for Insider’s young professional awards, which have been created to celebrate the business talent in the region of the under 35s and which span sectors from digital and tech to finance and law. Winners will be announced in early December.
